Welcome. I am a serious amateur astronomer, eclipse chaser, and budding astrophotographer.
I am also a board member and volunteer at FPOA. Come by some time and say hello!
One of my hobbies is chasing the moon's shadow.
Click to Follow Rob's Eclipse JourneyHere are two programs that will make capturing an eclipse easier
This is an iOS app that will predict for a given location and eclipse when the various Events of an eclipse ( C1- the first the the moon is visible, C2 - When totality begins, etc.) occurs. It will give you some idea of where to look and how close you are to the centerline.
For more information see the tutorial for the app.
This is an MacOS app that will control a Canon Camera to photograph both Total and Annual Eclipses.
Documentation on the app is available here.
Besides chasing the moon's shadow we have also done several other major trips. This section will provide images of those experiences
I began collecting flags of the countries I had visited back in the 1990's. Then it was a relatively modest 9 flags. By the end of 2020 it will grow to be 58 different countries. Many of these are from eclipses, but several others are destinations we visited because they were interesting.
See Rob and Carrie's flagsIn 2019 we joined National Geographic to visit some of the most iconic sights in the world with the assist of a dedicated plane

Click to Follow Rob's Trip to the South PoleIn honor of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing I present my own pictures from January 1970 of a very active Cape Kennedy with Apollo 13 on the pad.
