About 1.5 hours north of Beijing are the tombs of the Ming Emperors. When we visited in 1987 we were allowed into one of the tombs (with restrictions). With the increase in both local and international tourism that is no longer allowed.
This was the first of a couple of buildings we entered on the site. An inner building hosted a museum on the tombs and the Ming dynasty. This site was Changling which was the tomb of Chengzu (1360-1424).
