The Forbidden City is intended to impress. It is layers of ever more impressive building until you finally enter the relatively modest inner portions where the families actually lived. Having a map while you are there will definitely help. Without one I must admit being disoriented. I took my pictures and notes and then consulted the web when I got home.

For reference I will use a Wikipedia supplied map that I marked with the various locations of the videos. I also suggest Paul Noll which gives an angled raised relief view and drben.net which gives and Aerial overview and detailed view. The Map below is the simpler Wilki map numbered with drben numbers.
